Frequent questions.

What do I need on shore to get my data?

A gateway on shore. HYDRA sends its readings to it over LoRaWAN, and it forwards them to the web app over an internet connection — cable, Wi-Fi or mobile data all work. What you need depends on where you measure: tell us the location and we will work it out with you.

How far from shore can a buoy be?

Up to 14 km over open water, with a clear line of sight between buoy and gateway. Obstacles, land in between and a low gateway antenna shorten that considerably, so tell us about your location in the quote request.

Does a buoy need maintenance?

Yes. The buoys themselves need regular calibration, and marine growth has to be cleaned off. We do that on a service plan, or you do it yourself.

What does it cost beyond the buoy?

The buoy is a one-time price per package, from €990 excl. VAT. The web app — dashboard, history and alerts — is €10 per buoy and month, with a 12-month term. The gateway on shore is quoted with your request. Installation, a service plan and reports are optional and quoted individually.

Who installs the buoys?

That depends on your location. We recommend the setup and support the installation; you can also install with your own team or a local partner. For now we work on the German and Danish Baltic coast; other regions on request.

Do I need permission to deploy it?

That depends on your location and region. Please check the local regulations for where you plan to deploy before placing a buoy.
