Got water access —now what?

Start your in-water project with confidence:
live sensor data + farming tool + photos and field observations.
All in one place.

Cerberus develops modular buoy
systems (HYDRA) for monitoring
coastal and inland waters
.

HYDRA is designed to be cost-efficient and flexible for starter deployments. Depending on the setup, it can measure key parameters such as temperature, light, salinity, dissolved oxygen etc.
+
Bio units allow you to grow and document biological activity and growth over time:

  • algae

  • mussels

  • sponges
    ...

Farming and monitoring.

Option A: Installation on line

Option B: Individual anchoring

simple to install and use

  • made for lakes, harbors, or open water

  • designed for seaweed, mussels & biodiversity

  • works even in low-tech settings

  • tested on the coast

What´s your water
like this week?

Simple dashboard, clear description:
In combination with our buoy system HYDRA, the BLUE platform streams HYDRA sensor data live and lets you add photos and field observations.
Our systems gather information about:

  • light

  • salinity

  • temperature

  • waves

  • ...

With a shared HYDRA setup across sites, data from different water bodies can be directly compared, supporting research, assessment, and early in-water applications.
Over time, this makes it easier to relate observed biological changes to environmental conditions.

Adressing 5 frequent questions.

Who is the HYDRA system made for?

HYDRA is designed for small-scale farmers, researchers, and anyone (private individuals) who want to start with maritime farming or water monitoring in coastal areas or inland waters.

Can I expand my setup later?

Absolutely! HYDRA's modular design lets you start small and add more units as you grow. It can be also easily integrated into existing (Farm) infrastructures or transitions into a more conventional farm later on by adding more grow units.

What can I grow and evaluate?

The system with our grow unit supports a variety of shorter algae species, e.g. Ulva. Since march 2025, we have proven, that larger algae, such as sugar kelp grow well on our systems! If you want to be among the first testers with other macro algae or underwater organisms, feel free to contact us! From 2026 we plan to expand into mussels and sponges.

Is it difficult to set up?

Our system was designed for easy setup and integration. Nonetheless depending on your location and preexisting or non existing infrastructure, level of setup can vary. We can gladly provide advice!
Just contact us.

Why is underwater / maritime farming important?

It makes only sense to farm more on water on our water planet. Seaweed e.g. is a sustainable super-resource that helps the environment and supports a growing blue economy. Currently, most of our algae is used in yoghurt, ice cream, vegan sausage....you name it! In the future we will be able to make textiles, bio plastics and animal feed from the sea.
